A motorcycle inspired on bikes like Triumph, BSA or Penton of the 60’s that used to ride the International Six Days Trials. Light bikes with small headlights, flat handlebars, minimalist  seat and off road tires, motorcycles that were capable of riding trails and woods for days.

Esta es la nueva criatura de Fuel Bespoke Motorcycles basada en una BMW R80 ST de 1984. La Fuel R80 S Trial. Una moto inspirada en las motos Triumph, BSA o Penton de los años 60 que corrian en los International Six Days Trials. Motos ligeras con pequeños faros, manillares planos, asiento minimalista y ruedas de off road, capaces de recorrer caminos y bosques durante días.

In this bike, commissioned by a classic bike enthusiast living in the Austrian Alps, we have been working not only on aesthetics but also improve its performance.

The front fork is from a BMW K75 Sport which has been adapted by designing and machining the front axle and the triple trees. The brake section has also been improved with a 320mm oversize disc, a 4-piston caliper Brembo and Nissin master cylinder. The entire front disc and displacer caliper has been designed by Fuel and built by a specialist.

The rear has been entrusted to a Wilbers shock with multiple adjustments. We have also worked on the exhaust and collectors  for a set of 2 plus 2 exhaust manifolds (originally the R80 carries a 2 collectors with a single exhaust) and also varying the angle of the mufflers to take higher and improve their height the ground.

All the subframe is constructed again to get a slimmer line, shorten and strengthen the bike for off road use.

In the front of the bike we got a headlight from a classic spanish trial bike, the headlight bracket has been created and built for a “clean” look of the fork, high performance Motogadget speedometer, handlebar Tomaselli, indicators switches from an old Triumph, classic enduro grips and a car type starter motor relocated to the side of the bike.

On one side of the  Kawasaki tank we have incorporated a gearshift from an old  Ural (suicide shift) and thanks to an ingeniously and simple mechanism acts on the choke,when you push down the handle the choke gets open, a “divertimento” which, aesthetically, gives personality to the bike.

There have been five months of hard work that has enabled us to make a step further and keep learning  and improving our buildings.

I would also like to thank the work, enthusiasm and talent of Hilario our engineer and Isaac and Jose the mechanics and of course to Mike , the owner, who has trust us since the begining.

En esta moto, encargada por un inglés entusiasta de las motos clásicas que vive en los Alpes austriacos, se ha trabajado no solo en el aspecto estético sino también en mejorar sus prestaciones.

La horquilla delantera procede de una BMW K75 Sport que ha sido adaptada diseñando y mecanizando el eje delantero y la tija. El apartado de frenos tambien ha sido mejorado con un disco sobredimensionado de 320mm, una pinza Brembo de 4 pistones y bomba de freno Nissin. Todo el conjunto de disco más desplazador de pinza ha sido diseño por Fuel y construido por un especialista.

La parte trasera se ha confiado a un amortiguador Wilbers con botella separada con multitud de reglajes. También se trabajo en los colectores y escapes para hacer un conjunto de 2 colectores más 2 escapes (originalmente la R80 lleva un 2 colectores con un solo escape) y variando también el angulo de los silenciadores para llevarlos más arriba y mejorar la altura de los mismos al suelo.

Todo el subchasis ha sido construido de nuevo para obtener una linea más estilizada, acortar la moto y reforzarlo para un uso off road.

En la parte frontal de la moto tenemos un faro procedente de una moto de trial clasica, el soporte del faro ha sido creado y construido para dejar “limpia” la horquilla, velocímetro de Motogadget, manillar Tomaselli, piña de intermitentes de una antigua Triumph, puños de enduro clasica y clausor tipo coche reubicado en un lateral de la moto.

En un lateral del deposito hemos incorporado un antiguo cambio de marchas de una Ural (suicide shift) que gracias a un sencillo e ingenioso mecanismo actua sobre el starter, un “divertimento” que da personalidad a la moto. Han sido 5 meses de duro trabajo que nos ha permitido hacer un paso más y seguir aprendendiendo y mejorando nuestras construcciones.

Quisiera también agradecer el trabajo, entusiasmo y talento de nuestro ingeniero Hilario, los mecánicos Isaac y Jose, a Javier de Maxboxer y por supuesto a Mike, el propietario, que confió en nosotros desde el primer momento. Como ya sabeis, nos gusta hacer motos para conducirlas y disfrutarlas así que además de las imágenes en estudio también hemos hecho una sesión fotografica de la Fuel R80 S Trial en acción.     Came across your web site by chance, glad I did. Love the R80 trial, simply stunning work. Would very much like to own a copy of this bike but imagine even if you were to make another the cost would be out of reach for me….sigh.
    Keep up the good work your talent is appreciated by those who can only dream of owning these beautiful machines.
