Adventum 2: Head to South Africa
In November 2022, the Liberty Rider team set off on a trip to South Africa for a journey called Adventum.
What is Adventum?
It's a trip organized every two years by Liberty Rider. The idea is simple: to go with a group of bikers and discover a country or region together, sharing the passion of motorcycle travel. The team is made up of bikers from all walks of life: track, trail, urban... Because for Liberty, the passion for motorcycles goes beyond a particular type of practice, it's above all a human adventure.
We landed on November 2nd in Cape Town, a cosmopolitan city full of history. Our stay allowed us to discover many iconic spots in the country, including the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve, a magical and wild place. Our journey then took us to the Constantia Valley, the heart of South African vineyards, before heading to the countryside.
While the first part of the journey offered us green and lush landscapes, the second finally reserved for us the desired tracks and deserts, up to the Die Hell Valley: a technical 32km track in an exceptional setting. The return to Cape Town was then made along the coast, alternating off-road and on-road moments, we followed the ocean, crossed nature reserves where we saw giraffes and zebras among others...
The highlight of the trip: Cape Agulhas.
We had done it, we were the southernmost point of the continent, the furthest south we could be: 6,000 km from Antarctica and 12,000 km from France. The meeting between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans at sunset gave us what remains one of the most beautiful evenings of the trip, with a particular flavor as it was the last day on the bike: not frustrated or disappointed, we realized that the journey was coming to an end.
The apotheosis was the next day when our guide decided to take us on the iconic road of the country, the Chapman's Peak Drive, a succession of curves on the side of glowing cliffs along the ocean, known all over the world by bikers.
South Africa is a rich country that offered us more diversity of landscapes, fauna, and flora in 2,000 km than we could have ever hoped for. It felt like we crossed several countries: the Grand Canyon gorges, the deserts of Namibia, the lush nature reserves of Mozambique... South Africa offered us ten journeys in one.
