Stage 4: Scram Africa 2025

Stage 4 of Scram Africa 2025 brought back the pure essence of desert exploration. It was a long and demanding day, but for many participants, also the most fun and rewarding so far. This stage echoed the spirit of the early Dakar Rally, where riders relied on navigation skills and determination to conquer vast, remote landscapes.
From Tata to the Heart of the Desert
The day started with a fuel stop in Tata before heading into a mix of asphalt and desert tracks. Riders passed through the town of Icht for the last fuel opportunity of the day, knowing that from then on, only wilderness awaited.
The route alternated between open desert plains, rocky tracks, and stretches of soft sand. Many of the original Dakar Rally land beacons are still standing, and riders had the unique experience of navigating between them, just as the rally pioneers once did.
A Playground for Adventure Riders
One of the absolute highlights was the dry lakebed, which transformed into an adult playground for motorcycles. Riders enjoyed making donuts, sliding through the sand, and testing their bikes in this open and surreal landscape. It was a moment of pure freedom and fun, a well-deserved reward after the tough riding earlier in the day.
The desert conditions were not without challenges. A participant broke the valve cover of their engine. Luckily, local villagers stepped in and, with impressive skill, managed to weld and repair the part overnight. The bike was ready to ride again by morning—a testament to the ingenuity and kindness of the local people.
Along the way, riders were warmly welcomed by villagers who shared meals and hospitality, offering yet another unforgettable cultural exchange.
Ending the Day in a Remote Bivouac
The stage concluded with a remote bivouac on a dry lakebed next to the Draa River. Surrounded by the vast silence of the desert and under a sky full of stars, the group rested and prepared for the next day of their incredible journey.
Stage 4 of Scram Africa 2025 truly delivered the raw adventure spirit, combining challenging riding with camaraderie, local encounters, and breathtaking desert scenery.
