The Road to Barichara: Preparations for an epic ride

At Fuel Motorcycles, we thrive on adventure and the open road. We're thrilled to share the exciting journey of two of our own team members from Colombia, who are setting off on a thrilling ride to Barichara, a charming town in the Santander region. This journey promises to be an unforgettable experience, showcasing the beauty and diversity of Colombia's landscapes.

The Journey Begins

The adventure kicks off with an exhilarating journey through breathtaking landscapes that are sure to leave a mark on their hearts. To elevate the excitement, they’ve divided the ride into two stages, turning every mile into an unforgettable story.

The Motivation Behind the Journey

The first leg of the journey takes them from Manizales to La Dorada, passing through the Alto de Letras near Nevado del Ruiz. This part of the route is known for its breathtaking landscapes and chilly climate, with temperatures dropping to around 4°C. The first stop is in La Dorada, Caldas, situated at 173 meters above sea level, where the climate undergoes a dramatic shift.

Stage 2: La Dorada to Barichara

On the second stage, they will set off early towards their final destination, Barichara in Santander. Although they've traveled parts of this route before to visit other places in Colombia, this particular region is new to them, adding an extra layer of excitement to their journey.

Preparing the Rides

Their trusty steeds for this adventure are two Ducati Scramblers, meticulously prepared the week before the trip. They ensured the bikes were in top condition, checking oil levels, general maintenance, tire condition, and brakes, making sure everything is ready for the road ahead.

Packing Essentials

Through their many motorcycle journeys, they've learned to pack light. Manuela’s bike carries three bags: two side cases and a drybag. The side cases hold cold and rain gear, her clothing, and personal items, while the drybag contains hydration, coffee, and sunscreen. Sergio’s bike is equipped with two bags: one side case and one seat bag. His side case holds his clothes and tools for any roadside issues, while the seat bag carries all the recording equipment, including two Fujifilm cameras, a drone, batteries, a tripod, and an action camera.

The Motivation Behind the Journey

This trip has been in the planning stages since the beginning of the year. Their primary motivation is to explore their culture, get to know their country better, and travel with friends. Barichara has been on their bucket list for a long time, and they finally have the opportunity to visit.

This journey holds special significance as it will be the first time Manuela embarks on such a long trip solo on her motorcycle. Both riders are eager for the adventures and memories that await them in Barichara.
